Mitten Native Nursery is owned and operated by Suzi Kluting, whose passion for native plants grew from years of seeing firsthand the difference they can make in a landscape. In 2008, Suzi and her husband, Keith, began transforming their traditional Michigan lawn into a thriving native landscape. Since making the switch to natives, their yard is full of vibrant wildflowers, grasses, butterflies, moths, native bees, songbirds and all the life that follows when native plants are given a place to grow.
That experience eventually inspired Mitten Native Nursery and now, we are here to help you do the same.
Mitten Native Nursery specializes in Michigan native plants grown from Michigan-genotype seed. We offer plants for everything from traditional landscape beds and small back yard gardens to rain gardens, pollinator gardens and larger naturalized areas. Our goal is to make native landscaping approachable - whether you’re planting your first few natives or transforming an entire property.
We grow our plants locally without pesticides because planting native isn’t about just adding flowers, it’s about bringing life back to the landscape.
